Lawyers to Rally for the Rule of Law on Law Day

🗓️ Thursday, May 1, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
📍 Foley Square – New York City

“Lawyers and concerned non-lawyers will rally for the rule of law on Law Day, May 1, at 1:00 p.m. in Foley Square in lower Manhattan.
Lawyers will speak out in support of judicial independence, our system of justice and our constitutional democracy, and against attacks on the independence and integrity of judges, interference with the freedom of lawyers and law firms to represent the clients and causes of their choosing, brazen disregard of fundamental rights like due process, and the firing of government lawyers simply for doing their jobs, among many other things. Lawyers will be invited to reaffirm the oath they all took to support the Constitution, and to dress as if for court if they are comfortable doing so.
The rally, sponsored by the New York City Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, the New York Council of Defense Lawyers and the New York Civil Liberties Union, is part of a “National Law Day of Action” network that is coordinating Law Day rallies in cities across the nation.”
