Burning the Flags of All Nations

“At noon on May 1, 2025 people will gather at the UN Plaza in New York City (and elsewhere around the world, sharing through social media), to protest rampant right-wing nationalism by Burning the Flags Of All Nations! This event will be autonomous, horizontalist (no politburo, no central organizing committee), perhaps anonymous (make a mask of the flag you will carry?), and based solely on the self-directed initiative of collective or individual participants. Bring your flags!
In New York, we will assemble near Grand Central Station shortly before noon for a short march to the United Nations Plaza, where 192 or more participants will engage in this protest action of symbolic free speech (legal — at least for now! — in the US). This event will memorialize the late Michael Brownstein (1943–2024), author of the poetic manifesto “Lets Burn the Flags of All Nations.”
