what is this?

protest.nyc is an attempt at a visual protest calendar that is 1) maintained by community groups rather than a few individuals; 2) open-source & free from google, wordpress, amazon, & meta; & 3) can be followed many ways, including via RSS (with fediverse integration to come)––though the easiest is to save the site as an icon on your phone homescreen.

local sibling cals include red calendar & nyc noise.
as of january '26, we're still figuring out how we'll be using the space; more soon!

just click "add event" above; if your event isn't approved within 24 hours, please email us to see if we need any additional info!

this site branched off from Protest.one / NYC Protest Updates / PRO_NYC, a protest calendar & journalism team that was founded in May 2020 & active through 2025, with reporting on @protest_nyc in the days of twitter (RIP).
