At New York City’s Rikers Island jails, four incarcerated people have been killed in the past month alone. Our struggles have always be linked and we will uphold this legacy. At the time of Black political prisoner George Jackson’s assassination, a poem by Palestinian poet Samih al-Qasim was found pinned up on his cell, which reads: ‘I shall not compromise/ And to the last pulse in my veins/ I shall resist.’ From the HLF5 to Mahmoud Khalil to Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, our prisoners represent the beating heart of our movement. Free our prisoners, free them all!”
